In light of my post yesterday about fat and cancer, I thought I would share this simple tool for a little self-evaluation. There are different criteria for determining obesity. I have shared one of two with you previously. The most common one is body mass index or BMI. BMI is not the perfect tool, but it does help to determine the relation between height and weight. All that's needed is a scale and a calculator.
BMI = Weight in pounds X 703
(height in inches x height in inches) Or you can go towww.cdc.gov/widgets/bmiforadults.
The on-line calculator is a little quicker than most of us. The recommendation is a range of 18.5-24.9.
