Medical Journaling

Keeping a personal medical journal is one way to stay on top of  health care. This past weekend I viewed personal medical journals on-line and identified the elements that are important for David and me. I created one for us including the basics such as the specialist we use, medications with known side effects, and supplements.  I have pages for current appointments and also for past screenings and tests. I also included information about family history and other things as well. What I am trying to avoid is that awkward moment in the doctor's office when we are asked about a previous test and we only have memory to rely on. I can't remember what happened 6 years ago in San Angelo. While the journal is now tucked away safely on the computer for updates as needed, we will also appear for appointments with notebook in hand!
