American Fitness Index

Once a year the ACSM and Center of Disease Control and other agencies work together to evaluate the fitness level of major American cities. The evaluation takes into consideration issues like obesity rates, heart disease, and activity levels of residents.  Well, for the second year (maybe more) in a row we didn't do so good.  San Antonio is number 3 with an obesity rate of 32.8% .  This is huge; no pun intended!  It was also reported that San Antonio has the fewest parks and recreation facilities per capita of cities evaluated. So while we might take a collective breath and point a finger at something else, it's still nothing to write home about.  We are a large city in more ways than one.

Resource: Exercise, etc.
