Alzheimrer's

James Peterson, Ph.D. FACSM recently wrote an article for ACSM's Health and Fitness Journal,
"10 Need to Know facts About Alzheimer's Disease".  There are facts in the news quite often about Alzheimer's and I have shared some with you as well. It seems that about 80% of those suffering from Alzheimer's also suffer from cardiovascular disease. Some believe that controlling the risk factors for cardiovascular disease may be helpful to protect brain health. There is another reason to keep your cholesterol on the good side and blood pressure in check. Do you remember the article in Time magazine about Alzheimer's that I have referred to more than once?  It was reported  that 30 minutes of walking a day could reduce the risks of getting Alzheimer's by 50%.  In the article I am reading today, once again, the value of exercise on a regular basis is said to be helpful to lower the risk of Alzheimer's. All of that good oxygen and blood flowing to the brain from activity is a good thing.
