Giving

A recent conversation with a friend prompted me to do a quick search on the Internet.  My friend talked about his concern for the hungry people in our country. Depending on the website I visited, it appears that somewhere between 40-49 million people in America live in a food insecure household. 15.9 million are children.  For 1 in 6, hunger is a real struggle. Just to throw in one other interesting statistic, one source estimated the cost of treating obesity in the US in 2008 to be roughly $147 billion dollars. In a perfect world, the solution of the latter could go a long way to fixing the former. In the real world we might consider a quote from the late Maya Angelou: "If you get, give. If you learn, teach."
