Balance is one aspect of fitness and like all others, it is something that most of us have to develop. So if you find yourself saying "My balance isn't very good", here is a simple exercise to help. Stand close to a stable object you can hold with one hand for support. Don't put yourself in a position where you might fall. Then lift one foot away from the floor. Your core muscles will automatically kick into action to help you stabilize. Once that becomes easy, try holding on with two fingers. Your goal is to be able to do this without support. To go one step, again simply lift the leg out in front. I had some of my members do that today in the pool. It doesn’t happen in a day. Be patient. There are additional benefits. The muscles in the supporting leg are working as well to support your body weight. If balance is an issue try it. Carefully.
