Back Pain

Most of us experience some back pain at one time or another.  Some of us experience a lot of back pain most of the time. We spend time everyday in front of a screen, in front of a steering wheel, and looking down at a cell phone.  What happens to the back? The upper body moves forward. The head moves forward as well in front of it's normal position.  I have written about forward head previously.  I have written that the head weighs 10-14 pounds which could be the weight of a bowling ball.  What I didn't realize is that for every inch the head moves forward of where it should be, it doubles it's weight to the body.  To interpret this, if a woman's head weighs 10 pounds and moves 1 inch forward of normal, she has 20 pounds of weight to her body. This isn't going anywhere good because the 20 pounds is in front of the body pulling the upper body forward and down.  Get the picture?  Now imagine the picture walking. Balance is thrown off  and before you know it, the lower back is involved.  The muscles get tired and this is just he beginning. Hence, back pain!
