Rewards

One of the books I really enjoy reading is "The Book of Awakening" by Mark Nepo.  It is a day book and every page is something of a jewel.  Today's page was about rewards.  I immediately thought of the times I posted gold stars on a chart for the children if they did their chores for the day.  Eventually I gave out M&Ms when the thrill of the gold star wore thin. Should I admit that?  Today's message brought to light that as adults the effort to meet an accomplishment is the reward and the effort and the reward go hand in hand.  Mark wrote that "the closer we get to the core of all being, the more synonymous the effort and the reward". To make that even more relevant, he goes on to write that the reward of loving is being the carrier of love. Doesn't it make you feel awesome to recognize that one fact!  Remember when we told our children (as they grew too old for M&Ms) that the reward of a job well done was the job well done?  I will tell you another awesome fact. The reward of losing unwanted weight and strengthening your muscles is not going out and buying new clothes to fit a new body, but a job well done!
