Every year fitness professionals are given the opportunity to rate the methods of exercise most interesting to their clients. With the votes counted, the #1 trend for 2015 is body weight training. The first year for body weight training to make the trends list was 2013. It has come a long way in a short amount of time. In case you are curious, BWT invokes exercising using your body as weight. Push ups, squats, lunges, table tops, and planks are all BWT and great exercises. Workouts for three of my clients today involved BWT. You could even think of the TRX as BWT since once again the body provides the resistance. High Intensity Training is high on the list for 2015 as is strength training and personal training. Yoga remains in the top 20 for 2015. By definition, a trend is a change in the way people are behaving. A fad is something that is taken with a great deal of enthusiasm for a brief period of time. There have been a lot of changes in the last few years in our industry. The one I see the most is getting more done in a shorter period of time. People are busy and value their time. Thirty or 40 minute workouts get more people in and out of the gym and on to other things. Keep that in mind for your own workouts as well.
