#7. Omega-3s

Omega-3s have been associated with so many health benefits from fighting heart disease and Alzheimer’s to type 2 diabetes. The list goes on. Consider taking Omega-3 supplements that supply about 1000mg of DHA abd EPA combined.

My comment: If you are not taking Omega-3s, talk to your doctor. It is routine at our house. The benefits are well worth it.

#6. Milk does a body good.

"The American Journal of Nutrition" published a report that drinking milk aided in gaining muscle mass. The study involved 3 groups of men ages 18-30. They trained 5 days a week for 12 weeks. After each session, they drank either two cups of skim milk, a soy equivalent or a carb drink with equal amount of calories.

It turns out the milk drinkers lost twice as much fat and gained 3.3 pounds of muscle mass. Cynthia Sass reports that the advantage to organic milk is additional beta-carotene and Vitamin E.

My comment: Milk has a lot of nutritional benefits as do other dairy products. As a vegetarian, I use dairy a lot. Be aware of the fat in milk. Even though it is a beverage, it counts. The organic might be worth looking into.
