Wimberley Rescue

I have never been on Facebook as much as the last 10 days checking out information on the Wimberley Rescue page.  I am amazed at the number of people who donated their time to search.  Well over 100 teams of 5 and more documented gave their weekends and most likely a lot of their vacation time to look for those lost in the flood. Volunteers traveled from Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and Corpus Christi and elsewhere.  Of course, all of those people needed meals at the end of long days of searching.  It wasn't unusual to read that someone had set up a tent in a parking lot with food to feed 300. Businesses donated truck loads of water bottles.  As recently as today someone who makes energy bars asked if donations are still being accepted. Tide brought Loads Of  Love to wash and dry clothes for volunteers and especially clothes of residents who no longer have a washer and dryer.  If I didn't already use Tide, I would! Our church requested "flood buckets" and cash denotations.  We made a "flood bucket" and gave some cash.  It wasn't enough to make a difference except for the one person who needed cleaning supplies and received our bucket. Most heart warming are the prayers of  Thanksgiving for the teams and witnesses of new relationships forged at such a devastating time. Those who lost loved ones have offered amazing assurance to everyone involved that God is with us! They are a testament to the quote I read today.  "When life gives you more than you can stand...kneel"!
