I first saw this bit of information on Yahoo homepage this morning and found it a little unbelievable.
Jasmine Roberts is 12 years-old in middle school with an amazing science project. She collected ice samples from both the inside of five fast food restaurants and the drive through. She also collected toilet water samples. All were tested at the University of South Florida for bacteria. In several cases E. coli was found in the ice although the toilet water tested bacteria free. Most likely the ice machines are not cleaned properly and people dig through the ice with dirty hands. Toilet water on the other hand is piped in by the city. If one happens to occasionally visit fast food restaurants, this is food for thought and probably the tip of the iceberg.
